Stormers Mourn Passing Of Long-Serving Team Manager Chippie Solomon

The rugby community is in mourning following the passing of long-serving DHL Stormers team manager Chippie Solomon.

European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) confirmed the sad news, paying tribute to a figure widely respected for his contribution to the game and his role behind the scenes.

Solomon was instrumental during a significant period in South African rugby, playing a key role in helping local franchises transition into international club competitions. His work during the integration of South African teams into EPCR tournaments ensured a smooth adaptation, while also fostering strong relationships across borders.

“Chippie played a key role during the integration of South African clubs into international club rugby. Through his warmth, approachability and natural ability to connect people, he made that transition seamless and built strong, lasting relationships across the game,” EPCR said in a statement.

Known for his personable nature and professionalism, Solomon left a lasting impression on colleagues, players and administrators alike, with many describing working alongside him as a positive and enjoyable experience.

“He leaves behind only the very best memories for all those who had the privilege to know him. He will be deeply missed,” the statement added.

EPCR extended its condolences to Solomon’s family, including his wife Pearl and children Nina and Chad, as well as to everyone at the DHL Stormers, where he was a beloved figure among players and staff.
