DStv eKasi Champ of Champs Returns for 2025 Edition in Pretoria

Mzansi’s premier off-season township football tournament, the DStv eKasi Champ of Champs, is back for its fourth successive edition — and it promises a sizzling spectacle of raw, grassroots talent. The 2025 tournament will be held from 17–27 July at its brand-new home in Pretoria, with Soshanguve hosting the round-robin phase and Mabopane set to stage the semi-finals and final showdown.

A total of eight teams from Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and Limpopo will compete for a R250,000 cash prize, bringing with them the flair, skill and passion that defines township football at its best.

This year’s competition marks the much-anticipated return of Skepe Nketole FC, also known as the Chopper Boys, famous for their stylish match-day entrances, as well as Mudagasi FC, who captured hearts with their victorious run in the 2024 Philly’s Games.

Cameron Mathebula, Chief Operations Officer at Philly’s Games, expressed his excitement:

“We are very excited about the 2025 DStv eKasi Champ of Champs edition and can’t wait to see what each team brings to the pitch. We are proud of the growth we are witnessing with the addition of two teams from Kwa-Zulu Natal and Limpopo.”

He added:

“The flair, skill and competitiveness at the DStv eKasi Champ of Champs tournament is unmatched. What the eKasi games bring is talent, skill and flamboyance in abundance. It is football in its rawest form and a celebration of the pure essence of Mzansi diski. We know we are all in for a great treat.”
