Swimming South Africa and Bombela Concession Company Launch High-Performance Roadmap to Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032
Swimming South Africa (SSA), in partnership with Bombela Concession Company, has unveiled a comprehensive High-Performance Roadmap designed to prepare the country’s athletes for the next two Olympic Games in Los Angeles (2028) and Brisbane (2032).
As one of South Africa’s most consistently successful federations, SSA is looking to build on its tradition of international excellence by investing in sustainable growth and world-class support systems for athletes.
“The challenge we face is not a lack of talent — our athletes have repeatedly demonstrated their ability to shine. What we require are the resources and facilities to sustain and elevate that excellence,” said Alan A. Fritz, President of Swimming South Africa.
Partnership for Progress
The collaboration with Bombela Concession Company marks a strategic milestone in the federation’s long-term vision. With Bombela’s expertise in high-performance mobility and a shared commitment to excellence, the partnership is expected to strengthen SSA’s ability to deliver on its ambitions both at home and on the global stage.
“We remain fully committed to ensuring every stakeholder derives value from their support of our federation. Together, we will position South African swimming as a global force on the world stage,” Fritz added.
Four Pillars of the High-Performance Roadmap
SSA’s strategy for the next Olympic cycle focuses on:
- Increasing athlete representation: Expanding the number of swimmers qualifying for Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032.
- Building a stronger ecosystem: Empowering athletes, coaches, and management to achieve their highest potential.
- Driving performance gains: Improving times while broadening the qualifying pool across multiple events.
- Securing support: Leveraging financial, infrastructural, and institutional partnerships to sustain long-term success.
Expanding Infrastructure and Partnerships
SSA has pledged to engage with municipalities, the South African National Defence Force, the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, the National Lotteries Commission, and private-sector partners to create world-class facilities. These facilities will form the backbone of a sustainable high-performance ecosystem, ensuring athletes have access to the resources needed to compete with the world’s best.
Eyes on the Future
The federation’s focus is not only on the next two Olympic cycles but also on cementing a foundation for future generations of swimmers. By strengthening athlete pathways and support structures, SSA and its partners aim to keep South Africa among the elite nations in world swimming.
